Vanity Fair – Putting on the dog

At least one of Vanity Fair’s early issues was, in fact, inspired by dogs. In this May 1985 cover, Dalmatian spots were the uniting theme of Shari Belafonte-Harper’s timeless saucer hat, earrings, and bracelet. The dramatic facial pose of the Dalmatian to the far left signifies the dog’s intense feelings of oneness with Ms. Belafonte-Harper. Photograph by Bill King.
